An as yet unnamed probable 10th Planet, a.k.a. 2003 UB313 was made on January 9, 2005 and announced on July 29, 2005. Images of the planet were observed as early as 2003 but were not then interpreted as presenting evidence of a planet. With a highly elliptical orbit of 560 years around Sol ranging from 3.3 billion to 9 billion miles, the new ice and rock planet is larger than Pluto (whose status as a planet itself appears largely a function of popular belief). Xena has been suggested as a possible name.
