Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a fictional character from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. He is the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before that, he was the Transfiguration teacher at that school.

Dumbledore is described as tall and thin, with long silver hair and a long beard. He has blue eyes, a very long and crooked nose (looking as if it had been broken at least twice) and long fingers. He wears half-moon spectacles.

He holds the posts of Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot and Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards. He holds the Order of Merlin, First Class. He is known for defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald. Early on in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone it is suggested that Dumbledore once was in Gryffindor house.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Dumbledore is killed by Severus Snape. In the preceding summer Snape has taken an Unbreakable Vow in which he swears to help Draco Malfoy in his mission to kill Dumbledore. When it becomes clear that Malfoy doesn't dare to kill Dumbledore himself, Snape has to do it.
