The Big Boom

From the starting point of alternative space and alternative time it then becomes possible to imagine the big bang as being somewhat different from the commonly accepted idea that it starts from nothing more than a singularity, or a quantum fluctuation, expanding to create both time and space. Rather we get a picture of space pre-existing the event, and the bang being more of a boom, i.e. a longitudinal wave, like a sound wave, but in multi-dimensional space.

This big boom, on a macro scale, operates as a wave front over 4 dimensions such that it is expanding as a 3-sphere which pretty much immediately causes the wave to fragment into particles that equate to the quarks of quantum chromo dynamics. This wave of quarks is also a wave of anti-gravity, because it is space under compression, unlike the usual gravity wave that is space under tension. However, the wave of quarks, space under compression, causes an equal and opposite reaction, i.e space under tension, or as we know it conventional gravity. It is not quite conventional though, because it has component vectors spread over infinite dimensions.

Because the big boom forms an expanding 3-sphere, the surface of that 3-sphere is a three dimensional sphere expanding in all directions. So either side of the 3-sphere will be moving in opposite directions. It is this 4-dimensional property that explains the mechanism for the expansion of the universe, and also shows the universe as boundless, but not infinite, except orthogonal to the 3-sphere, i.e. before and after the moving now.

This natural conclusion that there is no boundary to the universe is not the same “no-boundary” found in Hartle-Hawking, which holds that the universe is unbounded at its beginning, much like the South Pole on a globe.

This alternative description of the universe is actually very similar to the idea of a brane in [M-theory]. Both ideas are based on the fact that electromagnetic phenomena, through which we mostly experience the world around us, only exist in a limited number of dimensions, whereas gravity in the alternative theory operates over infinitely many dimensions, and in M-theory the strong, electromagnetic and weak gauge forces are trapped on a brane of 3 dimensions, while gravity can occupy 10 dimensions (see The search for extra dimensions by Steven Abel of the Centre for Theoretical Physics, University of Sussex). However there are significant differences, M-theory requires the “strings” of particles to vibrate to account for extra energy, whereas in the alternative theory, particles have enormous amounts of mass that are effectively hidden from us due to their tailing off very quickly.

In this alternative description of the universe, if it were possible to move to a point nearer to the centre of the 4-sphere, i.e. where “now” was at some moment in the past, not only would we find that there was nothing there any more, but if we could put something there we would find that it did not affect the present. Effectively such matter would be forming a parallel world in the truest sense of the phrase. It would be moving in parallel, some way behind us in space, but still occupying the point in time we call “now”.

The alternative theory of time shows that travelling in space can never be enough to accomplish travelling in time, because even seemingly stationary particles are already travelling through space at the speed of light, so no amount of speeding them up, to an additional orthogonal speed of light, will cause anything but the slowing of phenomena. The same amount of space will be covered in the original direction, and there will be no returning to an earlier point in either space, or time. The things will never be in the same point in space again, and the passage of time, being decoupled from space, is no longer affected by these kind of things. In fact it is now unclear whether anything can affect the passage of time.

Alternative Universe is part of an Alternative Theory of Everything.
