Anime-mania split
From Wikinfo
The Anime-Mania split was the action of creating of Anime-Mania by the departure from Manga-Anime of a part of the administrators there. This article attempts to explain the premises, the actual split, as well as the first period in Anime-Mania's history, in relation with the site and conditions it emerged from.

Premises
The premises of the split for this split are numerous. The second Inuyasha invasion, Alexander's starting of the topic against Mangaboy, ultimately an attack against manga-anime presumed from Anime-Club, and some voices whisper, it may even have had to do with Tataea's removal from manga-anime's staff shortly before the attack happened. In the following we will analyze these causes, including the attack.
Second Inuyasha invasion
The second Inuyasha invasion was a crucial trigger of the events that would continue. Shortly explained, this phenomenon happened as a result of an advertisement appearing on the only anime airing site, Anime+, towards manga-anime. This led tens (some even say hundreds) of kids, most under 14, making accounts on this site and, without the minimum knowledge of what a forum is, this triggering waves of spam. In one conclusive example of this, a topic, apparently with little relation with the subject, got flooded with chat-type replies, giving it over 20 posts in less than an hours.
This phenomenon displeased a lot of people, including:
- Mix, who had caught the first Inuyasha invasion and dreaded those times and the extreme actions that needed to be taken then to calm the phenomenon then. To sum it up, "he was too old for this".
- Odeena - her grammar nazi status, cumulated with the spam-hatred reaction, made her go through real annoyances in this period
Alexander's topic
Alexander, in his usually way, started trolling where he knew he'd be permitted, on Anime-Club, by posting a conversation he had on the messenger with Mangaboy. This inflammated spirits and paved the way for what would be to come.
The attack
The attack consisted of what mangaboy claims to have been "a crude and easy to repair attack" and in no way a hacking in the professional meaning of the word. The actual attack consisted of an user, symbolical named "the end is near", uploading through the avatar uploading option, a scrip that did the following two damaging things:
- automatically posted swearing texts with the own users of the members of the site;
- made the site harder and harder to navigate and refresh, from a few minutes to a few hours until it completely shut down.
Suspects
The main suspect was the staff of Anime-Club, or, as the root admin said, "if someone from here did it, it was not at the approval or knowledge of the staff". This does not exclude them on any level however, as it is known from month to month, members of the staff subtly refer at "raids" against manga-anime, but it is not known how many are concreting.
Aftermath
Mix, already enraged with the n00b invasion, and for some time dissatisfied with the new look, skin and feel of the site, is said to have a crucial role in convincing AndreiDBZ in making a decision about their future. He managed to convince him that the anime-club attack was completly due to Mangaboy (although it is well known, at least by Ranma, Coyotee and others, that he had a major hand in the falling of anime-club of December 2005) and that manga-anime would only survive without him, or that they would need to make a new site, away from the controversies. The proposed solution was the de facto removal of Mangaboy from the site, at least at the level of online appearence. The two would follow in taking the official stearing of the site, with Mangaboy having some database power, but all off the record. Mangaboy initially agreed, but some days later deemed their plans to be subsidiary to Coyotee's and subsequently declined. The two, despite the intent they declared on manga-anime, seeing themselves with no other viable option, and realising they cannot take the site from Mangaboy, decided to make a new one.
Anime-Mania
Anime-Mania was created on the basis of a Coppermine free software (although allegedly, it was initially passed off as "original creation").
