Borneo

Borneo is an island in Southeast Asia. It is divided politically into several regions:

• The Indonesian region of Kalimantan.
• The Malaysian regions of Sabah and Sarawak.
• The independent sultanate of Brunei.

To the west of Borneo are the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra. To the south is Java. To the northeast are the Philippines.

It was recently discovered through DNA analysis that the Borneo Elephant is a subspecies of the Indian Elephant having been native to Borneo for the past 300,000 not recently introduced as some had thought [1]
