Electret

Electret (formed of elektr- from "electricity" and -et from "magnet"), material that have been permanent electrically charged or so-called polarised. Polarised material consists of atoms or molecules with electric dipole moment. Can be produced by cooling down materia composed of long molecule chains with electric dipole moment so that so-called domains are formed. These kinds of materials has recently found new comersial and technical intrest as their magnetical equivalence permanent magnet, and it is f.e. used in some special kind of microphone.
