Ellipsis is the grammatical practice of implying instead of including words in a written, or spoken context. eg:

'I supposed'. Instead of: 'I have supposed' or 'I was supposing'.

The term is also used to refer to the series of three periods used in writing or printing to indicate such an omission. eg:

'...'
