Gush Dan (??? ??) is the Hebrew name of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area on the Mediterranean coast. It is the largest metropolitan area in Israel, with a population of approximately 1.75 million. The area includes Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Ramat Gan, Givatayim, Petach Tikva, Bnei-Brak, Bat Yam, Herzliya, Ramle, Lod and Rishon Lezion. The name Gush Dan means Dan Bloc, and is named because the area was the territory of the tribe of Dan in the ancient Kingdom of Israel.
