A list of Scientology organizations is large because each Church, Mission and Dianeitics auditing group is a stand-alone organization. Each maintains a relationship with the mother church but exists and continues to act only as it fulfills the agreements inherent in the relationship. This is the stop, check, or control, the way the Religious Technology Center [1] maintains a uniform quality for the public, of the copyrighted information it has been entrusted with.
The Religious Technology Center is the Scientology organization which was entrusted by L. Ron Hubbard with his works. "Its purpose is to protect the public from misapplication of the technology and to see that the religious technologies of Dianetics and Scientology remain in proper hands and are properly ministered." [2] Every Scientology organization has a report line to it and, in addition, it maintains an interenet report line. If you witness a misapplication of Scientology technology, your report is encouraged. The report line for misapplication of Scientology is a separate line from the day-to-day workings and management of Scientology organizations.
The Church of Scientology International is the mother church of the worldwide Scientology religion. International headquarters are located in the heart of Hollywood California. [3] It is responsible for organizations, with the exception that anyone can report a misapplication of technology to the RTC.
The independant organizations under the Religious Technology Center sell books, lectures and other materials and provide services, such as auditing. The highest level organizations serve several lower level organizations, which in turn serve several lower level organizations. But any of them will sell all of the published materials of Scientology to anyone. This is a large quantity and has been estimated to be in the neighborhood of 35 million words. Higher organizations can deliver all the services of lower organizations and in addition, deliver the services up to their level.
The Freewinds Ship delivers the highest spiritual services. It is an organization, staffed by scientologists which occupies an actual ship. It alone delivers the technology of the highest level of spiritual freedom available today, Operating Thetan VIII.
Advanced Organizations (AO's) deliver all services except those delivered by the Freewinds organization. There are several AO's.
Saint Hill Organizations deliver all services except the Operating Thetan services, which are delivered at Advanced Organizations.
Class V Organizations deliver services up to Class V.
Missions deliver services and serve as centers for Dianetic auditing groups.
Many scientologists belong to the International Organization of Scientologists. [4] Belonging creates an economic benifit for members when purchasing materials or donating for services.
