List of universities in Israel

There are officially eight universities in Israel which are listed here (followed by the English acronym, if commonly used).
- Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI)
- Tel-Aviv University (TAU)
- University of Haifa
- Bar-Ilan University
- Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU)
- Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
- Weizmann Institute of Science
- Open University of Israel
All the universities, except the last two, give the full range of degrees - bachelor, master and doctor. The Weizmann institute does not give bachelor degrees, and the Open University does not give doctor degrees.
Other institutes of higher-learning in Israel, that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education in Israel to give bachelor (and in some cases also master) degrees, are called colleges (מכללות).

- Academic College of Law
- Jerusalem College of Engineering
There are also over twenty teacher training colleges, most of which can award only the degree Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
