Manga-anime.ro
Manga-Anime was created around the beginning of 2004, under the name of dbz-ro.com, its first mention being around april the same year. The owner is best known by old-timers as mangaboy, and it was created in colaboration with a former staff member from a-c, Majin. The site was initially ment to be a niche to the anime Dragon Ball Z, known in Romania until then mostly from the aired series, Dragon Ball, while this show was airing at the German TV station RTL II about the same time. By the end of the year the .ro domain was aquisitioned and dbz-ro.com would redirect to it.
Relation with anime-club
In the beginning, the relations between the two sites were good, as one of the administrator (Majin) was a moderator on the other, and Ranma knew mangaboy. This led, as the Romanian domain was eventually aquired, to an affiliation between the two sites. For unknown reasons - anime-club officials claim mass-spamming through the PM system - the relations became tense, and the affiliation was removed. As such, Majin claims he was given a choice between m-a and a-c, he ultimatly choosing the latter and thus being removed from the administrator position. Later that year, the bruing tension excalated and eventually was released in two "violent" actions: one of the cracking of the account of Majin at anime-club and use of it to delete all the topics in their DBZ section, and the other was the attack on the host of manga-anime so it would be taken down the internet. These events marked a period of cease-fire, as well as hardening the participants of the events.
The two sites reacted differently: while at manga-anime, the official policy was a complete cover-up of the war from the members, and subsequently the even existence of anime-club, at a-c the events were luffled in front of their members, a cunning way of assuring the full hate of their members against mangaboy. There was also allegations of account deletions against members from a-c on m-a only for partaining to the first site, thus fueling the hatered.
Rules and mentality
The rules at manga-anime are designed to minimize the tense situations on the site, and they reject any form of insults, flaming or trolling, as well as swearing and other ways which would make the mass of members uncomfortable in a normal discussion. A vague reference to this read by some on conferences where the owner rarely appeared was "Members come and go", and thus the unnecesity of putting some people above others because of this fact. As an ironic result, the owner seems to be about the only one remained from the first 500 users, but making manga-anime have double-triple the traffic of anime-club's close(d) community. To this are added the unsaid rules of keeping internal (of the staff) as well as external (inter-forums) conflicts under raps for keeping a clean discussion environment.
The mentality also includes an open community, where older members should have closely the same amount of power and say as any of the newer ones. These unwritten rules also protect in some limits the members of the abuses of the staff by not being allowed to admonestate them, as the rules apply to the staff too. In the beginning though, this was not the case, as some administrators (including Majin, but most often tr0tineta) would admoneste the members, insult them or delete their posts. These actions were eventually stopped, with the removal of the two from the site's leadership.
The first few months, spam (posts around or less than one line on the forum) was vaguely permitted, perhaps in order to create a solid core of main users. It was ultimately repelled in common sense limits and minimized considerably, to it having fallen after the site's first year. This graduate change in members' mentality was organized by the staff, the few who couldn't adapt (the most notorious being al0ns0) having faced a ban. On most sites pertaining to the anime-club franchise, it is still widely believed that manga-anime is a spamming area, with the section Coffee Shop being dubbed by one of it's own members a spamcan.
