The Nantucket Golf Club is a private 18 hole golf course on Nantucket off the southern coast of Massachusetts. It was founded in 1995 by Edmund A. Hajim, a Manhattan investment banker, and others. A membership was said in 2005 to cost $325,000. The Nantucket Golf Club provided an alternative for wealthy new residents of Nantucket to the long-established Sankaty Head Golf Club which had a long waiting list. The course was built in 1998 and was designed by Rees Jones. Built on heathland it has abundant sand bunkers. It is considered one of the top 100 golf courses in the United States.
