National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art is the United States of America's national art gallery. It is located in the "National Mall" in Washington, D.C. It was opened in 1935 through the gifts of benefactor Andrew W. Mellon. A second building, designed by noted architect I.M. Pei, was added in 1978, and houses the gallery's collection of modern and contemporary art.
It holds a collection featuring European masters as well as a broad cross-section of American art. It also has a collection of modern art.
Entry to the gallery is currently free of charge.
