Pareidolia is the human propensisity to see patterns in random phenomena. For example, viewing the pattern of melting snow on a mountain people have seen a cross, Mount of the Holy Cross or an angel, the Angel of Shavano. The Virgin Mary is a favorite but the patterns are not limited to religious icons.
