Ralph Richardson

Ralph David Richardson born December 19, 1902 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England - died in Marylebone, London, England on October 10, 1983, was a stage and screen actor.
Known as Ralph Richardson, he made his West End d�but in 1926, becoming one of the Old Vic's major stars. One of a group of theatrical knights of the mid-20th century who, though more closely associated with the stage, did their best to make the transition to film.
After World War II, he became co-director of the Vic, and also appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-on-Avon. He was knighted in 1947.
His film appearances included The Heiress, Richard III (playing Buckingham to Laurence Olivier's Richard), O Lucky Man!, and Oh! What a Lovely War
Sir Ralph Richardson died in 1983 and was interred in Highgate Cemetery (East) in London.
