Rebirth (Buddhist)

According to Buddhist teachings there is a cycle of Death and Rebirth that may and should be transcended by the practice of the Noble Eightfold Path.

There is some controversy on how exactly the concepts of Rebirth and Reincarnation relate to each other. HP Blavatsky seems to equate the two, but most present day Buddhist teachers insist that Rebirth is not Reincarnation - mainly because the doctrine of Anatta establishes that there is no true soul to reincarnate. Therefore the Karma causes Rebirth, but there is no true independent individual to be Reborn.
