Redistribution

Redistribution is the basic process of the pattern of distribution changing under the influence of some other process. For example as a stream flows it redistributes the material in its streambed though a process of sorting.

It has been noted that trade is redistributive, Lael Bainard of the Brookings Institute on C-Span January 7, 2004. This comment was made in the context of a discussion of economic change associated with free trade which has resulted in increased employment of labor and other resources outside the United States.
