Sai Baba of Shirdi or Shirdi Sai Baba (c. 1838 - 1918) was an Indian fakir who is regarded by his followers as a Saint and an avatar or incarnation of Shiva and Dattatreya. He lived and died as a beggar monk in a dilapidated mosque in the village Shirdi in Maharashtra.

He has both Hindu and Muslim followers. They believe that Sai Baba had miraculous powers and that he will be ever active and continue to do miracles from his tomb. The most important holy book of the Sai Baba movement is the Shri Sai Satcharita written by Annasaheb Dabholkar whom Sai Baba called Hemadpant. The book is very devotional.

Sai Baba didn't talk much and seemed to get angry very quickly. Followers believe that he only acted to get angry to teach his followers humility and lead them on the right (spiritual) track.

He should not be confused with Sathya Sai Baba, a 20th century Indian guru who lives at Puttaparthi, India.
