Simone Signoret

Simone Signoret (March 25, 1921 in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany - died September 30, 1985 in Auteuil-Anthouillet, Eure, France), was an award winning actress.

Born Simone Kaminker, in 1947 she won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti as France's most promising young actress. She went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1959 for her performance in Room at the Top.
She was married for many years to the actor/singer Yves Montand.
She died of cancer and is buried in [[P�re Lachaise Cemetery]] in Paris, France.
In 1998, the French post office honored her with her image on a postage stamp.
