Collecting of TV Toys is a hobby that has been around for less than sixty years. Obviously, television has only been around for sixty years, and television is the catalysis for this type of collecting.
People like to re-live their childhoods, twenty years after they lived it the first time. The Baby Boomers are the first group, in history, to have grown up with television.
From Hopalong Cassidy & Howdy Doody, in the 1950s, to the Brady Bunch & Partridge Family in the 1970s - 1980s, children have played with toys that had a connection with their favorite TV program. TV Toy Memorieshas photographs of many TV Toys, which can be used for reference material.
