Uranus (in Greek Pronounced oor-an-OHS) was the ancient Hellenic God of the stars. He was the son and lover of the primordial earth mother Gaia. Together with Gaia, he sired the race of Gods known as the Titans. After Gaia and Uranus quarelled, Gaia induced her son Cronus, to ambush his father, and castrate him. Uranus' genitals were cast into the sea where they foamed and bubbled. Out of the foam, was born the Goddess Aphrodite.
