i'm on vacation!
Please keep in mind that I'm on a long, long road trip. I don't always have internet access, and cannot troubleshoot problems. Please see the "village pump" and "about" links on this page for more information...
enough arguing
As no one had much of an opinion on my pump rant, and as I've thought about this for a long time, I've decided to go ahead and put what I've said into practice, on GetWiki (formerly, GetMeta), using a Positive Point of View policy, adapted from Fred's SPOV. Everyone's welcome to poke around over there and help "BarnRaise" by posting a paper or ebook, for example. Concordantly, GetWiki (the Wiki), not Wikinfo, is the primary development platform for GetWiki (the software): Too many arguments here have forced my hand on that front, but I'm not quitting Wikinfo. I think Wikinfo can be successful, and I have no interest in seeing it do otherwise. I would like to continue to admin here, and to see GetWiki continue powering Wikinfo. -proteus 01:20, 13 Mar 2007 (EDT)
- (Not arguing, reflecting:) Well, the conversation upon the subject of importing or improving has not been taken place unnoticed... But what to say ? I understand both standpoints. It certainly would do good to concentrate on wikinfo as such. On the other hand, sometimes there are articles in wikipedia which are really good (sometimes, I'd say...), and one might like to import them before they get worse (or deleted...). In that case, I would hesitate to create a totally new one in wikinfo which might consist just out of a few unreferenced words. Instead, I would like to import. I thought of importing Adi_Shankara, for instance. But then I saw what came out of it as to layout... So I refrained. Of course, maybe someone will show up writing a new article some day for wikinfo, which might be great. Nevertheless, the effect of having perfect importing possibilitiese is ambivalent: Having it might be tempting and thus drawing ressources from wikinfo as an encylopedia of its own rights, not having it might mean less acitiviy due to users who might import more then actually write, but on the other hand promoting writing new once...
- Well this has lead to no result as well - just wanted to say both you and Fred have been heard... And that is also something... May the best develop from hence ! -StarofLight 05:59, 14 Mar 2007 (EDT)
Demotion
Your behavior with respect to the ibiblio technical staff, particularly Paul Jones is completely unacceptable. Contacting his dean with bogus complaints is totally off the wall. I have demoted you to regular user. If you use your account to complain, I will ban you from the site. FJB 10:17, 14 Mar 2007 (EDT)
- Because of Fred Bauder's recent action, which was outside the scope of policy, and due to my ethical principles, I will no longer contribute to this site in any way. My user talk page is here.
