War Admiral (1934-1959), was a thoroughbred racing horse, the son of the great Man O' War.

Bred by Samuel D. Riddle and owned by Glen Riddle Farm, under trainer George Conway, War Admiral won 21 of his 26 starts. Ridden by jockey Charley Kurtsinger, in 1937 he won the Kentucky Derby over a field of 20 horses then went on to win the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes giving him the coveted Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.

He raced in the Eastern United States and is linked forever to Seabiscuit, who was a pre-eminent horse based primarily in the Western U.S. Their famous match race in 1938 is considered by some to be the best in thoroughbred horse-racing in American history.

War Admiral retired from racing with 21 wins in 26 starts. He was a highly successful stallion, and in 1945 was the leading sire, the year his great daughter Busher was named "Horse of the Year." Eleven times he was ranked among the top 20 sires in America, and was top broodmare sire in 1962 and 1964.

War Admiral was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1958.
