UseModWiki

UseModWiki is wiki software written by Clifford Adams in the Perl programming language. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License. Pages in UseModWiki are stored in ordinary files, not in a relational database.

History

Clifford Adams developed UseModWiki from the code of AtisWiki 0.3 by Markus Denker. AtisWiki was based on CVWiki by Peter Merel. CVWiki was based on the wiki engine on Portland Pattern Repository by Ward Cunningham.

Many other wikis now use UseModWiki, including MeatballWiki, and as a basis for the many "clones". UseMod is probably the most popular wiki software because it has few features to go wrong, is simple to install and maintain, and is very fast, naturally requiring little computing power as compared to other more feature-rich wiki implementations.
