For criticism see Criticism of World cricket champions

There are a number of different world cricket championships, which are listed here in chronological order of commencement. All except the Olympics are held under the auspices of the International Cricket Council.

Olympics

Cricket has been included in the Olympics only once.

  • 1900 Great Britain

World Cup

Champions Trophy

Test Championship and One Day International Championship

These work by rolling recalculation on the basis of continual matches, and were started in 2001 and 2002 respectively. There seems to be no complete record available of who was champion when. From the partial information available it would seem that they have been held by Australia for most of the time and South Africa for most of the remainder. See ICC Test and ODI Championship Rankings for such details as are available.
